Opening of the new machining workshop at the Hain Works

Many years ago, on 26 June 1968, GP sold part of the Hain business premises to the City of Siegen, which in turn sold the property to the Waldrich Company. The Kabelschlepp Company, which used these halls for a long time, emerged from a department of the Waldrich Company. On the basis of a positive trend and expansion of products, but also because of space constraints, Kabelschlepp decided to establish a new production plant nearby. GP’s Hain Works has also doubled its output over the last five years from € 20 million to € 40 million, which likewise led to logistical problems. Now the total area of GP’s Hain Works has been expanded by 11,000 sq. metres, from 49,000 sq. metres to 60,000 sq. metres, through acquisition of the Kabelschlepp premises. The production space alone has expanded by 3,500 sq. metres with the big machining workshop. This finally puts an end to bottlenecks with regard to staff rooms, parking bays, and maintenance and training facilities.

Kaan Marienborn - Siegen

Buying Kabelschlepp’s business premises gives GP an additional 3500 sq. metres of production space and other advantages as well.

On Friday, 26 June 2009, the great day finally arrived: GP celebrated its works extension with more than 100 guests from among its customers as well as political and administrative figures.

In his welcome address, GP’s Managing Partner, Mr. Fritz Spannagel, called Kabelschlepp’s decision to relocate a “fortunate coincidence”. He said that even in the currently difficult economic situation with massive declines in orders, GP is deliberately spending money to safeguard the future of the location. He reported that some € 4.7 million was spent just for the property. In the months to come, the company will now invest in the halls, streamline its internal logistics, and expand production and productivity. Mr. Spannagel closed with the words: “We will remain on friendly terms with our old neighbour even as the distance between us increases."
